Methodology

My approach involves storytelling to establish a seemless flow for lesson plans, developing teaching tools, and teaching methods, which might appear unconventional but has proven highly effective.

Having pillars will guide you in the pre-planning process and serve as a reference point, like a north star, to help you stay aligned with your goals. Each training session adheres to three fundamental principles:

-
HOW TO TEACH (IDEAS) - Every 'story' has an introduction, e.g. establishing the character, then theres the main content, and a summary. We'll base the class on this.
-
OBJECTIVE - Each program has a reason for students to be there. Understanding the goal of the program will ensure, we can adapt the lesson plan to any situation.
-
FLOW - Applying 'ramping' to your lesson plan, understanding groups stages, and planning out your class before hand, will ensure a seamless flow, creating a class that can be absorbed.

In between that, we will include:

-
Creating Teachable Moments
-
Storytelling
-
Tools to create and assist in learning
-
Research and Resources
-
Activities and Games
-
Transference

During this time, the participants will be ‘Participating in classes’, and also ‘Running the classes’, then building their toolkit utilizing activities to solidify the class objectives. By the conclusion of the training, the participants will not only possess knowledge on the topics covered but crucially, they will have the expertise to develop comprehensive lesson plans and manage classrooms for any Outdoor Education program, regardless of the venue.
